Growing up in the Boston area fueled my special interest in design everywhere around us. Sitting in the back seat of the car, I kept an eye out for expressive logos, design, and branding everywhere in the city. Even in simple objects such as street signs I admire  direct, successful communication through design. Diving into multiple social media sites, I was inspired by the unique logos and branding expressed by various individuals. I wanted to learn how to express myself and help others express themselves, I knew this is my potential career. Familiar with the only free program I had, Google Slides, I started experimenting with shape, color, and photo variation. Along with the graphic design aspect, Youtube fostered my interest in motion design, which eventually led me to the Adobe products.

After Effects opened up a new world of possibilities. By watching videos, reading forums, and clicking around on my own, I taught myself the basics of motion design. After Effects introduced me to the Adobe suite. Starting with Photoshop and Illustrator, I delved deeper in the Adobe Suite, learning about audio, video, animation, photo editing, illustration, and 3D modeling. As I got more proficient, I started creating concept brands with their own logos, color schemes, business cards, advertisements, and products. As a freshman at Cambridge School of Weston, I connected with the motion design teacher who became my mentor for the next 4 years.

I quickly realized that the field of design was a passion I wanted to pursue. The summer before college started, I took an online pre-college program at UCLA for different media. Here, I learned about game design, 3D design, typography, and graphic design. This program furthered my confidence in design as a major. I applied to many colleges as a Graphic Design major and fell in love with the Rochester Institute of Technology. Studying design principles, color theory, formatting, workflow, and more have expanded my skill set and increased my passion.

Being a graphic design major at RIT has solidified my commitment to my career as a designer. As I work with students and professors, I look forward to being part of a professional team that uses innovative design to inspire viewers with a purpose.
